  • We don't sell imported fish, ever. All fish sold are at least first generation American-born.
  • We use selective breeding rather than throwing fish in a fish farm pool and hoping for the best.
  • USA-bred means no ridiculous transhipper prices, and your money stays in our own country.
  • Our fish are bred ethically with care given to each and every fish. They are not disposable.
  • Our fish are raised in planted tanks because we think fish are healthiest with enrichment.

  • We do not sell tail-nippers.
  • We do not sell fish that are sick or full of parasites. All our fish are treated with anti-parasitics before going to a new home just in case.
  • Fish that have mild deformities but can still live a great life are either adoptable (pay shipping only) or labeled Pet Only!
  • We refuse to send fish through USPS Ground Advantage (2-5 days). Most fish perish in 72 hours while in transit. The last thing we want is a DOA shipment, for your sake and the fishes! (Click HERE to view our DOA policy.)

Insulated Boxes seem to be ridiculously expensive, generally between $15 and $25 on sites like eBay. Instead of buying a box with styrofoam panels, it's possible to buy styrofoam "coolers" that fit perfectly into USPS Priority Mail boxes. The boxes themselves are free and can be ordered online. Unfortunately even styrofoam coolers can be ridiculously expensive. eBay sellers usually want $10 for a used styrofoam cooler. Without being able to inspect the cooler in-hand, you could be buying something dirty, stinky, or damaged. So far the best website I've found for buying these pre-fit coolers is  TSK Supply . The coolers price + shipping usually means you can get them under $10 each, so cheaper than the used ones on eBay. They also carry styrofoam paneling that fits in Flat Rate boxes, if you choose to use those. If I find a better site for ordering these coolers and panels, I will revise this post!

Our First Tank - Log #1

Hello! I'm starting up this blog post series to document the setup and evolution of our first tank. My partner has never had his very own pet before, so this is an exciting time for the both of us. We are planning on getting a male alien betta, and this is going to be a proud display tank in the living room. Unfortunately I didn't begin documenting the tank right at the start, like I should have. Hopefully this will still get the point across, and will provide insight into how a tank should  be started. Our First Tank - Log #2

Some time has passed since my last post! Our tank has evolved quite a bit since September 3rd. Time for photos and happenings! First of all, this. This is truly a master test kit. It touts enough liquid to take 800 tests, but I don't know if that's actually true. The bottom line is that this kit is almost a mandatory part of anyone's fish supply arsenal. These water tests are accurate if done right, and that's really not difficult to do since it comes with a book full of instructions. It even says how many drops to put into the vials on the bottle itself, just in case you read the instructions and suddenly forgot how many drops you're supposed to use. (As someone with ADHD, that happens more often than I'd like to admit.) We decided to put this test to the test (hah), and see the current parameters of our tank.
